Huawei unveiled a foldable device called Huawei Mate X six months back since then we are waiting for it till now, It was expected to launch on June 2019, but that didn’t happen the reason behind that is Samsung Galaxy Fold, a foldable device from Samsung that took a major blow launching a half-baked device. Huawei didn’t want to repeat the same mistake as Samsung. The company took a step back to make their first foldable phone more durable by delaying the launch.
Latest October Update
Last month Samsung launched their Galaxy Fold with necessary fix. There were reports Huawei is all ready to launch the Mate X in September but that didn’t happen either. Between the period it was first reported and now, Huawei has overhauled the foldable phone to improve durability. Now with the new month new information regarding Mate X coming out. The new info suggests that it will be launched on October 23 in China. The source is also suggesting that the device will go for Pre-Orders on the same day and will go for sale in the first week of November.
The new date might be genuine since Huawei’s CEO, Yu Chengdong, uncovered during the Mate 30 series launch that the Mate X will start shipping in a month.
Huawei Mate X: Specs
As per MWC2019 Mate X houses 8-inches flexible display with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 when folded out. When folded it one-sided it measures 6.6-inches with a resolution of 2480 x 1148. The other side of the display is 6.38-inches with a resolution of 2480 x 892. The phone features a triple camera setup at the rear, it houses a Kirin 990 processor featuring 8GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage.
The report says that only 300,000 units of Mate X will be made available for sales. It is less than half compared to the Galaxy Fold. Samsung made 700,000 units for its foldable phone.
It will land with the Kirin 990 5G processor and not the Kirin 980 that powered the version that appeared at a pre-MWC event in February 2019.
