Few months back Xiaomi unveiled its entry level smartphone Redmi 7a and today September 25, Xiaomi brings a successor to its entry level range Redmi 8a to India with fast charging, type C port and Gorilla Glass 5 protection at a cheaper price tag of Rs.6,499 converts to $100 for the base variant. Let’s see what else it offers
Specification of Redmi 8a
- Display: 6.22-inch HD Plus Dot Notch Screen
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 439
- Camera: 12MP Sony IMX 363 Sensor with 8MP Selfie Shooter
- Battery: 5000 mAh with 18W Fast Charging
- Ram & Storage: 2GB/32GB and 3GB/32GB
- Os : MIUI 10 on top of Android 9
This Phone brings mixed feelings whether it to be considered, on one side it provides impressive specs with 5000mAh battery, 18 Watt fast charging, Type C Port, Gorilla Glass 5 Protection, P2i Splash Proof coating and a decent primary camera which none competitors offer in this price range and it also comes with a dedicated SIM slot, on the other side it offers a dated chipset Snapdragon 439, no fingerprint scanner, no secondary rear camera and also the 18W fast charger is not available in the box, you have to purchase it separately.
For 2GB Ram and 32 Gb Storage which is the base variant will retail at Rs 6,499 and for the 3GB/32GB variant it will charge you Rs.6,999 and it will go on sale starting from September 29 at Big Billion Sale on Flipkart.
The phone offers a decent package for day to day use considering the price but don’t expect high performance from it, I would suggest you to add Rs.1000 bucks more to your budget and get the Realme 3i, though you will miss out with fast charging, type C port and gorilla glass 5 protection but you will get a decent performance and good camera with a fingerprint scanner.
