Last year in 2019 Samsung began the journey of foldable smartphones with Samsung Galaxy Fold which was made to carry a tablet in a pocket that can be foldable to a smartphone. But this year in 2020 Samsung introduced a foldable smartphone Samsung Galaxy Z Flip which revived the hope for flip phones that were dead back in the days. But it is not as cheap as the flip phones available back then. It carries a price tag of USD 1380 converted INR 100,000. Before we define other things let’s take a look at what it brings under the hood.

Unlike Moto Razr, which is its closest competitor Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is powered by a flagship processor Snapdragon 855 Plus coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4 Ram and 256GB of internal storage. Talking of the software the clamshell foldable phone by Samsung runs on OneUI 2.0 on top of Android 10. OneUI 2.0 is tweaked in a way that adapts a foldable display specially designed for this smartphone.
Samsung provided a small 3300mAh battery divide in two half in the clamshell fold featuring 2375 mAh in the bottom half and 925mAh in the upper half of the smartphone. It can be charged with a 15 Watt Wired fast charge and also comes with wireless charging.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip: Display
Coming to the display. It houses a 6.7-inch FHD+ punch-hole display lined with Ultra-Thin Glass. Samsung designed this smartphone so you can use it in three ways.
The first is the closed mode-you can use the smartphone when it is closed in this mode. The smartphone can be operated using the 1.1 Super AMOLED display on the back, which has 112 x 300-pixel resolution and 303 PPI density.
The second mode is the open mode – with this mode the smartphone can be simply opened to users as you use your regular smartphone.
The third mode is the Flex Mode-in this mode, the screen can be stopped at any angle you want, just like you turn a laptop screen. Samsung calls this mode the Infinity Flex Display. The top part of the smartphone will play a YouTube video, and the bottom part can show video-related chat or comment portions
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip: Cameras
The Galaxy Z Flip comes with a dual-camera setup featuring a 12MP (f/1.8) primary wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.2 on the outside. When you flip open the phone you get a 10MP Center Punch Hole Selfie Shooter Inside.
Price and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will go on sale for USD 1380 which is INR 100,000 starting from February 14. As far as variants we only get an 8GB + 256GB as of now but you do get 3 Different colors to choose from namely Mirror Purple, Mirror Black, and Mirror Gold.
For India, we have to wait a couple of days or weeks to get the official launch date and pricing. Samsung didn’t reveal anything for the country.
