Xiaomi launched its first Android One device, Mi A1 three years back. People loved Mi A1 back then with vanilla stock experience coupled with great specs at a pocket-friendly price. But last year it did not go well with the launch of Mi A3 which was launched with Android 9. The device itself is good enough but the caveat here is the software. Since Android One device promises to provide 3 years major android update Mi A3 is struggling to get a proper stable update of Android 10 for its user. So today Xiaomi decided to break up with the Android One Program.
What will happen to Xiaomi Mi A4 without Android One Program?
Well no official statement is issued by Xiaomi yet regarding MI A-series lineup. But it could be possible that Mi A4 might be released with stock android. And not under the Android One Program. We recently witnessed a similar situation with Motorola. Motorola has just released its few devices with pure stock android but not under the Android One program. This means that Motorola is not bound to provide three years of android updates with its few recent releases. A similar situation can be witnessed from Xiaomi for its upcoming device Mi A4. It is a win-win situation for both the brands and the consumer. Especially for those who are not a fan of Xiaomi’s native user interface MIUI.
We might see the best of MIUI features stitched in Mi A4 while running on Stock Android, which will enhance the user experience of the end consumer. Or there could be the end of Stock Android for Xiaomi users if the company decides to kill the Mi A-series which will be unfortunate and disappoint many users.
This means that Xiaomi and Motorola move away from android one program leaving behind HMD Global’s Nokia. The only Smartphone manufacturer that brings Android One Program with its devices in the future.
